A Writer On Her Journey

When a writer embarks on her career the first step is always uncertain. It feels right at the time, obviously, but you can never tell, for sure, which way it will pan out. Three books down the line I am now beginning to get a body of work together which indicates a certain ‘shape' and approach in what I do and what my intent is.
Every writer has an intent, what some might call a mission and others might consider to be a ‘vision'. These are grandiose works for sure but they are really designed to show just what is a writer's motivation beyond the entirely spurious pursuits of fame and money.
This was followed by ‘How to Talk to a Girl You Like' a practical guide to help a man talk to a girl he like sin almost any situation. This was a little different in style but in content it helped deliver some valuable help to tongue-tied men hoping to woo the girl of their dreams.
‘Understanding Her' is a guide to the uncharted territory of a woman's mind. Probably the most ambitious of my books to date it tries to demystify us, women, for those men who really want to understand us.
By now the trend is obvious. In each of my books I try to shed some light into what for most men is terra incognita: the female mind and the expectations of a woman when it comes to her man. There is an unstated belief here that for most men women are a totally closed book. They want us, they love us, they chase us but when they do catch us they fail to understand us and, usually, that's when the ‘fun' begins as the girl of their dreams turns into a person they can hardly recognise.
Fact one: yes, this does happen. Fact two: men fail to understand why. This is the area I want to shed light on. Why can't we make our relationships work? Provided both partners in it want the same thing why can't we understand how to meet each other's needs? Why is it so really hard to fathom some of the things which make each sex tick?
I am a firm believer in openness, honesty and transparency in a relationship and I know, from my professional experience, just how difficult it is to achieve that and still manage not to feel vulnerable. My books are best seen as little steps. Each one is designed to help uncover a small piece of the jigsaw that is a woman's mind. Taken from different perspectives this then begins to make sense as a whole which, hopefully, illuminates, to the male mind, the way we, women, think and explains the reasons why we behave the way we do.
As you probably expect I have more books planned in this direction. My journey, as a writer, is just beginning.
